Literature Text

Fire holds out its hand to me
Pleading with me to accept its call
Wanting me and only me
But I am Water
Fire’s touch will burn and scorch my fair skin
Yet I want Fire just as much
I want its warmth
I want its danger
I want its love
Slowly I allow my cold hands to caress Fire’s cheeks
I cry out as my body becomes engulfed by Fire
A fiery fierce world surrounds me
All around me it burns
My skin beings to melt and pop under the heat
Steam beings to rise to the surface and run down my body
Yet I dare not pull away from the pain
For with the pain comes my pleasure
I love Fire to much
My delicate world starts to melt all around me
It becomes nothing more than a haze of fog
Though the pain is all I can think about
As Fire’s lips find mine
The kiss we share is a fine mix of hot and cold
Fire and I
Each hurting the other
Fire begins to burn out
I begin to melt away
I whimper as I wrap my arms around Fire’s back
Fire whimpers too as its flames begin to dim
Slowly we are dying
Dying in each other’s love and wants
Quickly Fire nips at my body
Biting and pulling at my melting flesh
I scream and cry as the heat around us rises
Desperation fuels Fires every move
All I can do is relish in the pain
Try to find what I’ve been longing for
Only now in death can I find it
Love
Were killing each other with our selfish desires
Pressing our bodies closer together
Clinging to one another like the heat around us
Searching for the pleasure we want
So long have we wanted each other
Wishing we had this kind of courage before
Fire’s touch is all I’ve ever imagined it would be
Hot and strong
Fierce and carnal
Driving me insane with all my selfish fantasies
How long can my body last
Slowly I’m slipping away
Disappearing from this loveless life
Can Fire hold out
Will Fire survive after I have gone
Fire’s flames are growing dimmer with every touch from me
Dimming and sizzling against my body
Becoming less savage and dangerous
I’m killing Fire too
Slowly I lean up and plant one last kiss upon Fire’s lips
Were are both crying out now
Then I slip through Fire’s fingers
And Fire disappears in a cloud of steam
This is the poem I wrote for a contest entry. I think I did an ok job. It took me forever to get all the wording right. I didn’t want to give them genders; I wanted them to be genderless. I hope you all like it!And if there are any spelling errors at all please let me know!

The Original title was The Sacrifice of Fire and Water, but it was too long for the title. Lol
